Questions have emerged regarding safety protocols and disaster management following the tragic incident at the Bargi Dam involving a cruise boat in Jabalpur district, Madhya Pradesh. The mishap has resulted in the loss of nine lives, with the toll expected to rise as search operations continue. Concerns have been raised about potential lapses in safety readiness, adherence to weather advisories, and disaster response by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation.

Authorities are scrutinizing the approval processes, emergency readiness measures, and supervision mechanisms within the tourism department. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha has criticized the incident as a case of “gross negligence and administrative failure,” emphasizing the need for accountability and justice for the victims and their families.
