Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, raised concerns about the CBSE’s On-screen Marking Scheme (OSM) contract award process. Gandhi criticized the selection of an allegedly ineligible EdTech company for the task and called for a judicial inquiry. He highlighted discrepancies in the awarding of the OSM contract, questioning the government’s decision to choose COEMPT over TCS and alleging favoritism.
Gandhi emphasized the need for accountability and transparency in the contract award process. He demanded an independent judicial probe into the matter, extending the investigation beyond CBSE to all contracts awarded to COEMPT. The CBSE and the Education Minister acknowledged issues in the evaluation system and pledged to address them for the benefit of students.
The controversy surrounding a Class 12 student receiving the wrong answer sheet sparked discussions on the reliability of digital evaluation. Despite the allegations, CBSE defended its actions, stating that the contract was awarded following proper protocols and procedures. The board refuted Gandhi’s claims of impropriety, asserting that the selection of the agency was in accordance with established rules and regulations.
