Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, stirred controversy by labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as “traitors” during a public gathering in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of working against the country’s interests and undermining the Constitution. He directly addressed the crowd, stating, “Your Prime Minister and Home Minister are traitors.”
The remarks made by Gandhi quickly ignited a political debate, with the Congress supporting his statements, citing them as a reflection of the widespread dissatisfaction and frustration felt by the public. Congress leader Pawan Khera emphasized that the sentiments expressed by Gandhi were milder than the discontent prevalent among citizens towards the government.
In response to Gandhi’s comments, the Samajwadi Party, a Congress ally, distanced itself from the language used, stating that such rhetoric does not align with their political discourse. The BJP strongly criticized Gandhi, labeling his thinking as “anarchic” and drawing parallels between his statements and those of urban Naxals.
