Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressed solidarity with Kashmiri students and shawl sellers following recent attacks reported from various parts of India. In a letter to the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, Gandhi condemned the harassment and violence faced by Kashmiri community members outside the region.
Gandhi raised concerns over the escalating violence targeting Kashmiri students and seasonal traders in different states. He criticized the divisive impact of the “politics of hate,” attributing it to weakening social institutions and fostering fear among minorities and marginalized groups.
The Congress leader denounced all forms of violence and emphasized his party’s dedication to upholding constitutional values and safeguarding the rights of all citizens. Gandhi pledged to continue advocating against discrimination and hatred, standing in support of the victims and their families.
Amid mounting worries over repeated assaults on Kashmiri individuals, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association has been actively seeking protection for those living and working outside the Union Territory. The association highlighted incidents involving Kashmiri students and shawl sellers in states like Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh in recent months.
