As Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi faced backlash for his comments on India’s political scenario while speaking in Germany. He alleged discrepancies in the Haryana and Maharashtra Assembly elections, drawing criticism from the BJP and JD(U) for defaming India on foreign soil. The Samajwadi Party distanced itself from Gandhi’s statements, emphasizing the need to address such issues within the country.
The BJP and JD(U) strongly condemned Rahul Gandhi’s remarks made abroad, accusing him of tarnishing India’s reputation. BJP Bihar President Dilip Jaiswal criticized Gandhi for speaking against the country while being overseas, highlighting the freedom of expression available within India. JD(U) national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan questioned Gandhi’s conduct as the Leader of Opposition, labeling him as irresponsible and detrimental to the country’s image.
Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and statements were further scrutinized by JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar, who criticized Gandhi’s leadership as being lineage-based rather than merit-driven. Kumar accused Gandhi of questioning India’s institutions and Constitution without valid reasons, suggesting that his position as the LoP was not based on competence. Gandhi, on the other hand, reiterated concerns about the electoral machinery in India and alleged a compromise in key institutions, emphasizing the need for a sustainable democratic production model.
