Raijor Dal MLA Akhil Gogoi voiced disappointment for not receiving an invitation to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s swearing-in ceremony. Gogoi, a two-time elected legislator, expressed his displeasure at being excluded from the event. The Sivasagar MLA accused the state government of overlooking opposition representatives in the guest list for the ceremony.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, leading the BJP-led NDA, secured a significant win in the recent Assam Assembly elections. Sarma was sworn in as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term, marking the NDA’s third consecutive governance in Assam. Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sarma at a grand ceremony in Guwahati’s Khanapara, attended by top political figures including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The swearing-in ceremony also saw the induction of four ministers, including Union Minister Rameswar Teli, AGP President Atul Bora, UPPL leader Charan Boro, and BJP leader Ajanta Neog. The event was graced by national BJP leaders, NDA Chief Ministers, religious leaders, industrialists, and notable personalities from various sectors. The absence of Akhil Gogoi, despite his legislative background, has stirred controversy in Assam’s political circles.
