Describing the Yamuna Water Project Agreement between Rajasthan and Haryana as a significant milestone in water management, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma highlighted its importance for the future prosperity of Rajasthan. The agreement, pending for nearly three decades, signifies strong leadership and coordination between the Central and State Governments. This initiative, valued at Rs 34,102 crore, aims to address water challenges in regions like the Shekhawati belt, ensuring safe drinking water for numerous families and promoting socio-economic development.
The project is expected to reduce reliance on groundwater, enhance water conservation efforts, and boost the overall development of the region. Chief Minister Sharma emphasized that improved water availability will attract investments, create job opportunities, and elevate living standards in both rural and urban areas. This strategic move aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047, focusing on water security as a crucial aspect of national progress.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his support, Chief Minister Sharma highlighted the spirit of cooperative federalism under the Prime Minister’s leadership. He also acknowledged the efforts of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil in facilitating constructive dialogue between Rajasthan and Haryana. The State Government is committed to ensuring the timely and efficient implementation of the project to benefit the people of Rajasthan at the earliest.
