Rajasthan BJP chief, Madan Rathore, has strongly criticized the Congress party, labeling it as “anti-women” and highlighting its consistent neglect of women’s rights. He pointed to the Shah Bano case where the Congress government overturned a Supreme Court ruling through legislation, denying justice to a woman and impacting the dignity of millions of Muslim women. Rathore emphasized the need for women’s empowerment and criticized Congress for viewing women primarily as “silent voters.”
Women’s achievements in various sectors like industry, science, and space were praised by Rathore, who stressed the importance of women having adequate representation in Legislative Assemblies and the Lok Sabha. He mentioned the BJP’s efforts to protect the rights of Muslim women, enhancing their confidence and self-respect. Additionally, Rathore commended former Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat for introducing reservations for women in Panchayati Raj institutions, and highlighted the efforts of leaders like Atal Behari Vajpayee to increase women’s representation in Parliament and state legislatures.
Rathore called for bipartisan support for legislation promoting women’s rights, criticizing Congress for hesitating to back such measures due to concerns about losing its traditional vote bank. He urged all political parties to prioritize women’s rights and work together to empower them, emphasizing that women are now more aware and empowered to demand their rightful place in legislative bodies.
