Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has emphasized the importance of connecting more livestock farmers with the dairy sector in Rajasthan, highlighting its crucial role in the rural economy. He chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of various schemes by the Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation, stressing the need for innovation and effective implementation to enhance the sector. Sharma directed officials to focus on improving the marketing of ‘Saras’ products with strict quality standards and to establish new dairy booths based on ongoing campaigns.
The state government, under schemes like the Chief Minister Milk Producer Sambal Yojana, is supporting dairy farmers financially while promoting ‘Saras’ products as a mark of quality and trust among consumers. Discussions during the meeting also revolved around expanding the ‘Saras’ brand through modern outlets like Saras Smart, Saras Café, and Saras Signature Plaza. The Chief Minister instructed the strengthening of branding by setting up outlets at major religious and tourist destinations and ensuring consumer facilities at these locations.
Efforts are underway to increase milk procurement in the state, with plans to raise daily procurement levels to 6.5 million litres in the first phase and 8.5 million litres in the second phase. New dairy cooperative societies are being established in uncovered areas, and the procurement rate has been raised to benefit livestock farmers. Investments are being made to set up new milk processing plants and expand existing facilities across districts to boost processing capacity. The meeting was attended by key officials including Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Joraram Kumawat and Chief Secretary V. Srinivas.
