Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma criticized the Congress party for not giving timely recognition to B.R. Ambedkar. He accused the Congress of neglecting Ambedkar’s contributions and delaying awarding him the Bharat Ratna until 1990. Sharma highlighted that despite Ambedkar’s stature, the Congress focused on honoring its own leaders like Nehru and Gandhi instead.
Sharma further alleged that the Congress, despite its long rule, did not uphold Ambedkar’s principles effectively. He criticized the party for exploiting issues related to marginalized communities for political gains, stating that they failed to truly respect Ambedkar during his lifetime. According to Sharma, the Congress’s actions reflected a disregard for Ambedkar’s dedication to social justice and constitutional values.
The Chief Minister emphasized that mere celebrations on Ambedkar’s birth anniversary are insufficient. He urged political parties to genuinely implement Ambedkar’s ideals in governance and policies. Sharma’s remarks coincided with leaders nationwide commemorating Ambedkar Jayanti, reigniting discussions on legacy, recognition, and commitment to constitutional values.
