Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, along with Union Minister for Jal Shakti C.R. Patil and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, participated in a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the progress of the Yamuna Water Project. The meeting focused on finalizing key aspects of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and addressing matters related to the Kishau Dam Project.
Detailed discussions were conducted during the meeting regarding various facets of the project. Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil emphasized the importance of enhancing water resource management through improved coordination among states under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The project aims to transport water via a pipeline network instead of traditional canals to promote water conservation and expand the distribution system.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma highlighted the significance of the Yamuna Water Project for Rajasthan, especially the Shekhawati region, in fostering socio-economic development and enhancing the quality of life for numerous individuals. He expressed the State Government’s dedication to promptly implementing the project in collaboration with the Central and Haryana Governments.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini underscored the commitment of state governments, guided by the Prime Minister, to ensure water access for all citizens. He mentioned that projects like Renuka, Lakhwar, and Kishau would benefit the residents of Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi. Discussions also touched upon rainwater conservation and water transportation to Rajasthan.
Senior officials from the Government of India, the Rajasthan Water Resources Department, and the Haryana Government were in attendance at the meeting.
