Rajasthan cyclist Nitin Saini has finished the challenging Trans Am Bike Race, cycling across the United States from the Pacific coast to Washington, DC, in 28 days this year. Starting from Astoria, Oregon, on June 7, Saini arrived at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington on July 5, covering almost 3,500 miles through 11 US states.
The Trans Am Bike Race is known as one of the toughest unsupported cycling events globally, where participants manage their own gear, food, and lodging, riding continuously across the US without support crews. Saini expressed that the race was more demanding than he had anticipated, facing various challenges like weather changes, mountain climbs, heavy rain, and remote terrains.
Reflecting on his journey, Saini shared that cycling allowed him to explore countries beyond their famous landmarks. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing health, stating that it should always come first in life decisions.
Travelling through rural America had a profound impact on Saini, who noted the vast geographical expanse of the country. He mentioned the solitude of country roads, where he often rode for long distances without encountering other individuals, providing him with a unique perspective on America’s lesser-known areas.
