The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau apprehended a police sub-inspector at Nai Mandi Gharsana Police Station in Sri Ganganagar district for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. Identified as Rameshwar Lal, the accused was caught during a trap operation while serving as a Sub-Inspector at the mentioned police station.
The Director General of Police (ACB) Govind Gupta disclosed that a complaint was lodged, accusing the officer of demanding Rs 50,000 from a complainant in exchange for filing a Final Report (FR) in a case concerning the individual. Upon the complainant’s report to the ACB and negotiations reducing the amount, the accused agreed to accept Rs 20,000 as a bribe.
Under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police (ACB) Narayan Togas and Additional Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar, the ACB Outpost in Bikaner conducted a successful trap operation, capturing the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe amount. The tainted cash was seized, leading to the arrest of the accused and the initiation of legal proceedings.
Officials mentioned ongoing interrogation and further investigation under the oversight of Additional Director General of Police (ACB) Smita Srivastava. A case has been filed against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, with the bureau continuing its comprehensive probe into the matter. The ACB urged citizens to report corruption cases, emphasizing strict action against public servants engaged in corrupt activities.
