Rajasthan’s Manav Suthar, a spin-bowling all-rounder, achieved a significant milestone by debuting for India in a Test match against Afghanistan. The 23-year-old left-arm spinner was selected over Harsh Dubey for India’s playing XI, receiving Test cap No. 319 from Kuldeep Yadav.
Suthar, known for his impressive first-class record with 129 wickets in 29 matches, has emerged as a promising young spinner. He has also gained exposure through List-A and T20 games, along with his stint with the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026 under Shubman Gill’s captaincy.
Recognized for his ability to generate sharp turn and extract bounce, Suthar’s talent was acknowledged during India’s ODI World Cup preparations. His Test debut was an emotional moment for him, fulfilling a lifelong dream, as he expressed gratitude for receiving the cap from Kuldeep Yadav.
Welcomed into the Indian dressing room by Kuldeep, Suthar is set to play a crucial role in India’s spin department transition, especially with upcoming challenges in Sri Lanka. His consistent domestic performances have paved the way for a potentially successful international career.
