Rajasthan is set to experience relief from the prevailing heat and humidity as a Western Disturbance becomes active over the state starting Thursday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts thunderstorms, gusty winds of 50-60 kmph, and light to moderate rainfall in parts of the Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions from June 11 to June 14. An orange alert for thunderstorms and rain has been issued for 12 districts, including Jaipur and Alwar, with the possibility of hailstorms in isolated areas.
The impact of this weather system is anticipated to persist across Rajasthan until June 14, despite the recent hot and dry conditions with clear skies and high temperatures. Several districts recorded maximum temperatures ranging between 40 and 46 degrees Celsius, with Sri Ganganagar registering the highest temperature at 45.9 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department predicts the development of a significant weather system over Rajasthan, leading to strong winds and rainfall in various divisions.
Jaipur, which witnessed scorching heat with a maximum temperature of 42.1 degrees Celsius, is expected to see relief with the upcoming weather changes. Night temperatures have also been high, exacerbating the discomfort for residents. Ajmer recorded a maximum temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius and high humidity levels, indicating ongoing hot and humid conditions in the region. Udaipur experienced slightly lower temperatures compared to the previous day, with weather experts forecasting rainfall in the coming days.
Kota, on the other hand, continued to face intense heat, with temperatures reaching 41.1 degrees Celsius and hot winds prevailing throughout the day. Alwar, after a brief respite, saw a return of intense heat, while Jodhpur remained under severe heat conditions. With thunderstorms, rain, and gusty winds expected to bring relief starting Thursday, residents across Rajasthan can look forward to a break from the prolonged heatwave and humidity.
