Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted that education goes beyond just professional success, focusing on character and morality as well. Speaking at an event in Udaipur, he stressed the importance of values alongside knowledge, noting India’s rise as a knowledge economy. Singh praised the role of teachers, calling them the backbone of a robust education system.
India’s progress towards becoming a top global economy by 2030 was underscored by Singh, who also mentioned the country’s advancements in self-reliance in defense and weapon manufacturing. He shared a personal anecdote about his entry into politics and the enduring influence of his teaching background. Singh lauded the New Education Policy for its emphasis on teachers and highlighted the significance of values like humility and respect for personal and national development.
Discussing the traditions of unity and equality in the Armed Forces, Singh touched upon community meals and the need to break hierarchical barriers for trust and camaraderie. MLA Vishvraj Singh Mewar spoke about the Mewar royal family’s historical support for education, particularly girls’ education, at the event. The Defence Minister also visited the City Palace, where he was greeted by Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar.
