Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid respects at Victory Square in Bishkek, a monument commemorating the triumph over Nazi Germany. He was in Kyrgyzstan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting. Singh’s visit included a wreath-laying ceremony and participation in discussions on defense and security issues with other SCO member countries.
Singh’s trip aimed to underscore India’s dedication to global peace amidst current security challenges worldwide. He emphasized India’s unwavering stance against terrorism and extremism. The SCO meeting in Bishkek will address defense, security, international peace, counter-terrorism, and defense cooperation among member states.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of geopolitical unrest, particularly in West Asia. The SCO, comprising countries like India, Russia, China, and Pakistan, may deliberate on strategies to mitigate the impact of ongoing conflicts. India, along with other nations like Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, is part of the SCO, a significant regional political and economic organization.
