The Rajya Sabha faced turmoil and adjourned quickly during the Monsoon Session’s fourth day as Opposition parties pressed for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation due to the NEET paper leak and police brutality against protesting students in New Delhi. Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge demanded Pradhan’s immediate resignation, citing student injuries and parental concerns.
In response, Leader of the House J.P. Nadda criticized the Opposition’s behavior as irresponsible, highlighting their reluctance for discussions despite the government’s willingness. Amidst the chaos, Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan adjourned the House till 2 p.m. due to escalating protests, preventing further dialogue.
Outside the House, Opposition MPs staged a sit-in protest near the Parliament complex, emphasizing their call for Pradhan’s dismissal. Meanwhile, ruling NDA MPs held a counter-protest, condemning the Opposition’s avoidance of parliamentary discussions and accusing them of misinformation. The political divide over the NEET issue deepens, with the government open to debate but the Opposition firm on the Education Minister’s resignation as a prerequisite.
