CWC member Ramesh Chennithala expressed confidence that the United Democratic Front (UDF) would secure over 100 seats in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections. He highlighted a strong public desire for a change in government, emphasizing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s failure to acknowledge this sentiment. Chennithala cited the UDF’s success in recent elections as evidence of increasing public support.
Speculation on potential political realignments was addressed by Chennithala, who stated that discussions would only be relevant if Kerala Congress (M) leader Jose K. Mani decided to leave the Left Democratic Front (LDF). He emphasized that unless there was a clear expression of intent from Jose K. Mani’s party to exit, such discussions held no significance. Chennithala also noted the political significance of former CPI(M) legislator Ayisha Potty’s recent remarks following her departure from the party.
Regarding the UDF’s political strategy, Chennithala clarified that their focus was on expanding support among like-minded individuals committed to secular and democratic values, rather than poaching parties. He accused the CPI(M) of spreading misinformation about housing projects in Wayanad, asserting that the land purchased by the Congress for housing was suitable for construction, despite CPI(M) claims branding it a wildlife corridor. Chennithala urged the media not to amplify what he termed as the CPI(M)’s campaign of falsehoods.
