Ranchi Police announced the dismantling of a drug trafficking network in the Khet Mohalla-Bacha Kabristan area under the Hindpiri police station limits. Six individuals, including a woman, were apprehended during the operation, leading to the seizure of narcotic substances and over Rs 8.8 lakh in cash. Acting on a tip-off regarding illicit drug trading in the area, the Senior Superintendent of Police formed a specialized team for the raid.
The team, comprising officers from various police stations, successfully cornered the suspects in the Bacha Kabristan area after they attempted to escape through narrow lanes. The arrested individuals were identified as Sahil alias Charka, Mohammad Ejaz alias Babu, Awadhesh Yadav, Anil Kumar Mahto, and Sarvar Ansari. Police found brown sugar, ganja, and mobile phones in their possession during the search.
Further investigations led to a raid at a residence near Nadi Ground owned by Shehnaz Khatoon, where Rs 8,74,200 in cash was discovered. Additionally, narcotic injections, banned tablets, ganja, and drug-related paraphernalia were seized from the location. Shehnaz Khatoon was also taken into custody on the spot. The total haul from the operation included cash, brown sugar, ganja, and various narcotic medicines.
The arrested individuals, originating from different parts of Ranchi, have been remanded to judicial custody as the police delve deeper into the wider drug syndicate network for additional leads.
