Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Smriti Mandhana described her team’s victory over UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 as “the best seat in the house.” Mandhana praised the team’s bowling performance and strategic execution during the match.

Mandhana specifically commended Lauren Bell for her exceptional bowling, noting her effectiveness in the Power-play with 15 dot deliveries and a figure of 1/16. She highlighted the importance of a strong start to the bowling innings.

Reflecting on tactical improvements from their previous match, Mandhana emphasized the team’s ability to execute plans effectively despite facing a left-right combination throughout the 20 overs. She acknowledged the team’s progress in terms of field sets.

In the chase, Mandhana played a supporting role while Grace Harris showcased an impressive performance. Mandhana emphasized the team strategy of giving key players like Harris the strike to make impactful contributions, leading to a record-breaking opening partnership.

RCB’s decision to open the batting with Harris proved successful, with the Australian player scoring 85 off 40 balls in a remarkable 137-run partnership. Mandhana explained the rationale behind this strategic move, highlighting Harris’s ability to dominate the opposition in the Power-play.

Despite RCB’s strong start to the season with two consecutive wins and the top position on the table, Mandhana remained cautious about the challenges ahead. She emphasized the team’s focus on hard work and highlighted the group’s dedication over the past few years, maintaining a grounded approach towards future matches.
