Amid reports of around 20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs backing the NDA government, leaders within the ruling alliance have criticized the party, citing internal turmoil and a lack of democracy. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha from JD(U) described the situation in Trinamool as a breakdown of internal order, highlighting a lack of internal democracy within the party. Bihar Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal also expressed concerns about growing unrest within Trinamool, attributing it to alleged hooliganism in West Bengal.
JD(U) National Spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan mentioned that internal dissent had reached senior levels of the party, with reports of senior leaders expressing a lack of confidence in Mamata Banerjee’s leadership. BJP leader Yamini Sharma noted dissatisfaction within the opposition ranks, emphasizing that even TMC MLAs and MPs are disillusioned with the party’s policies. BJP leader T.R. Sriniwas claimed the emergence of a breakaway faction within Trinamool, citing grievances of MPs like Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.
The political controversy escalated after Trinamool MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar revealed that nearly 20 Lok Sabha MPs had decided to support the NDA, potentially leading to a split in the party’s parliamentary unit. This development follows internal discord in the West Bengal Assembly, where a significant number of Trinamool MLAs defied the party high command’s decision, indicating deepening divisions within the organization.
