If industry sources are to be believed, the much-anticipated Malayalam film ‘Drishyam 3’, directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal, might see a delay in its release. Originally set to premiere worldwide on April 2, the film’s launch could be pushed back due to ongoing tensions in the gulf region. Despite speculations, no official announcement has been made yet, and the current plan is for the film to hit screens on the scheduled date.
Mohanlal wrapped up shooting for his part in ‘Drishyam 3’ in December last year, with a viral video showing him celebrating the milestone with the film crew. Commencing work on the movie after receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the actor’s portrayal of Georgekutty, the iconic character, will continue in this third installment. The film’s storyline will delve into Georgekutty’s life after a significant time leap, as revealed by director Jeethu Joseph.
Producer Antony Perumbavoor, a key figure in the success of the Drishyam series, emphasized that the decision to proceed with ‘Drishyam 3’ stemmed from the overwhelming response to the previous films. Following extensive discussions, the team embarked on the new chapter, with the movie being shot at various locations before concluding in Ernakulam. Known for their compelling narratives and Mohanlal’s stellar performance, the Drishyam movies have garnered a dedicated following in Indian cinema.
