Renu Danu, a constable in the CRPF, experienced snow for the first time in Gulmarg, where she later excelled at the Khelo India Winter Games 2026, winning three silver medals. Despite her family’s unfamiliarity with winter sports, Renu’s determination and training led her to success.
Growing up in Haldwani, Renu’s focus was on studies and life before sports. Joining the CRPF in 2021, she found a new passion in skiing after being posted in Srinagar in 2024. Despite initial challenges, Renu’s perseverance and hard work paid off with multiple victories.
Renu’s journey from Haldwani to Gulmarg symbolizes her remarkable transformation in just a few years. With the support of coaches and her own discipline, she aims to compete at higher levels, dreaming of participating in FIS races, World Championships, and the Olympics. Her success not only signifies personal achievement but also represents a new chapter in India’s winter sports narrative.
