Residents originally from West Bengal but settled in Jamnagar gathered at Lal Bungalow Circle ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival, showing enthusiasm for his Gujarat visit and BJP’s success in Bengal. People from Bengali families in Jamnagar lined the roads to the meeting venue, holding placards, chanting patriotic slogans, and donning traditional attire in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s arrival.
The atmosphere resonated with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram,” with members of various communities from the city also assembling at the venue. Sanjeev Chatterjee, a local advocate, expressed his desire for West Bengal to progress akin to Gujarat, citing the state’s development over the past three decades.
Dolly Mukherjee shared the joy of Bengalis in Jamnagar over Modi’s visit post the BJP’s Bengal victory, emphasizing the need for women’s safety and education in Bengal similar to Gujarat. Another resident, Sushil Rai, mentioned the excitement among people waiting on the roads to welcome the Prime Minister.
Aaveri Haldar, a resident of Gujarat for 15 years and Jamnagar for a decade, expressed anticipation for her first close encounter with PM Modi. She hailed BJP’s Bengal triumph as a proud moment for Bengalis, hoping for Bengal’s development mirroring Gujarat. Haldar also revealed making a pencil sketch of the Prime Minister before his visit.
Prime Minister Modi’s two-day Gujarat visit includes stops in Jamnagar, Somnath, and Vadodara, with plans to attend the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav and inaugurate the Sardardham Hostel in Vadodara.
