Retired Senior Loco Pilot Rajendra Rao Jadhav, who was driving the Sabarmati Express during the 2002 Godhra train burning incident and later became the complainant in the case, passed away in Ratlam at the age of 67 after battling a prolonged illness.
Jadhav retired from the Indian Railways in 2018 after a long career and had been undergoing treatment for an illness. His last rites were conducted at Triveni Muktidham in Ratlam. He is survived by his wife, Sumati Jadhav, his son, Gaurav Jadhav, and three married daughters.
Jadhav’s son-in-law, Piyush Gaikwad, mentioned that Jadhav had been unwell for an extended period due to his illness, and his health suddenly worsened leading to his demise. Jadhav was the senior loco pilot of the Sabarmati Express during the tragic incident at Godhra railway station that resulted in the death of 59 people.
Railway officials in Ratlam praised Jadhav as a dedicated and disciplined employee who served with commitment. Colleagues and officials gathered to pay their respects at Triveni Muktidham, remembering his years of service. Railway personnel expressed condolences to his family and prayed for peace for his departed soul.
