A revenue official in Farhi Panchayat, Narpatganj block, Bihar’s Araria district, was caught accepting a bribe for land record correction. Mohammad Imtiaz Alam, the accused officer, was apprehended by a Vigilance Department team while taking Rs 15,000 as illegal gratification from a farmer named Kamleshwari Yadav.
The district administration, acting on Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha’s orders, suspended Alam and initiated dismissal proceedings. Despite previous payments, Alam failed to complete the work and demanded an additional bribe. Following a complaint to the Special Vigilance Unit in Patna, a trap was set, leading to Alam’s arrest during a bribe exchange at the Farhi Panchayat office.
Deputy Chief Minister Sinha emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. He vowed severe action against any employee involved in corrupt practices, stressing the government’s commitment to transparent and lawful service delivery to citizens and farmers. Sinha warned against negligence, misconduct, or abuse of authority, affirming the government’s dedication to a corruption-free revenue administration.
