Richa Chadha has rekindled her passion for belly dancing by attending a five-day intensive course in Goa. After a hiatus, the actress-producer felt the need to delve back into this dance form more earnestly. She resumed dancing about 6-7 months post her delivery and sought guidance from Dipika Vijay, whom she praised as an exceptional teacher.
Belly dancing evolved from a mere curiosity to a significant interest for Richa. Initially exploring it as a therapeutic outlet during her postpartum phase, the dance form captivated her attention. The course in Goa signifies a personal journey for Richa, devoid of any professional obligations, aimed at learning, evolving, and reigniting her love for belly dancing.
Richa Chadha’s tryst with tribal belly dancing began a few years back while preparing for a film sequence, where she trained under the tutelage of renowned expert Olga Meos in Kazakhstan. Even during the lockdown, she remained dedicated to her training, leveraging online sessions to refine her skills and stay connected to dance. Besides belly dancing, Richa is also proficient in Kathak.
In her recent work, Richa featured in “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The series unfolds in Lahore’s Heera Mandi, a red-light district, against the backdrop of the Indian independence movement. It delves into the lives of tawaifs, exploring their struggles amidst political and personal challenges during British colonial rule.
