Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer has returned to Melbourne Park for the Australian Open and commended the rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, considering it one of the most thrilling storylines in modern tennis.

Federer, a six-time Australian Open champion, is set to participate in a special ‘Battle of the World No. 1s’ event on January 17 alongside Andre Agassi, Patrick Rafter, and Lleyton Hewitt.

Alcaraz and Sinner, who have dominated recent major singles titles, engaged in intense battles, with Alcaraz notably saving three championship points in a memorable five-set clash at Roland Garros.

Federer expressed admiration for the duo’s progress in recent years, highlighting their exceptional skills as ball strikers and hinting at more to come in their promising careers.

Sinner, the two-time defending champion, and Alcaraz, the current world No. 1, are poised for an exciting showdown at this year’s Australian Open, with Alcaraz eyeing a chance to achieve the Career Grand Slam.
