A social media post by Rohini Acharya, daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, has stirred political reactions. The post, without direct names, is seen as targeting her brother, Tejashwi Yadav, a leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal. Acharya’s post hinted at internal family discord and the risk of conflict within the Yadav family. She expressed concerns about erasing a “great legacy” without the need for external interference.
The post emphasized the importance of preserving symbols of heritage and cautioned against clouded judgment and arrogance leading to destructive consequences. This incident has fueled speculation about tensions within the RJD’s first family. Political figures from the Janata Dal United and Bihar Minister Ram Kripal Yadav refrained from direct comments on the matter, citing it as a personal issue within the Yadav family.
The controversy arises following the RJD’s significant defeat in the recent Bihar Assembly elections, where they secured only 25 seats out of over 140 contested. The NDA, comprising the BJP and JD-U, achieved a landslide victory with over 200 seats. Rohini Acharya, in response to the electoral setback, announced her withdrawal from politics and disassociation from her family. She alleged mistreatment by her brother Tejashwi Yadav and his associate, RJD MP Sanjay Yadav, following her queries about the party’s electoral performance.
