Roy Kapur Films recently uncovered fraudulent casting calls falsely attributed to them by a former casting director, Vineet Lalita Pandey. The production house clarified that Pandey’s services were terminated, emphasizing that he is no longer associated with them in any capacity. They cautioned that any casting communication from Roy Kapur Films will only be through their official channels, disavowing Pandey’s unauthorized actions.
The incident sheds light on a broader issue of fake casting call scams plaguing the Hindi film industry. Major production houses like Yash Raj Films and Dharma Productions have also faced similar challenges, cautioning against fraudulent auditions and misleading talent coordinators. Scammers often target aspiring actors through social media platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram, promising roles alongside top stars in exchange for fees or charges.
Industry experts stress that legitimate auditions in Bollywood do not require any payment for selection. To combat such scams, professionals advise actors to verify casting calls through official announcements and social media handles of reputed production houses.
