A Russian drone breached Romanian airspace, crashing into a residential building in Galati, Romania, causing a fire and injuring two people. The injured individuals were promptly taken to the Galati County Emergency Clinical Hospital. The drone incursion occurred during the night, with Russia resuming drone attacks near Ukraine’s border.
Specialized teams from various Romanian agencies, including the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and the Romanian Intelligence Service, are currently at the crash site. The National Military Command Centre has also been involved in implementing public alert measures. According to reports, numerous residents were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Recent incidents involving drones include several entering Latvian airspace from Russia, with some crashing into an oil storage facility in Rezekne. Baltic authorities suspect that many of these drones, believed to be Ukrainian, may have strayed off course into neighboring countries’ airspace. The Baltic States have witnessed a series of drone incursions, prompting air alerts and NATO fighter jet responses.
