A serious incident took place in the Bihta police station area of Patna when a sand-laden truck collided with the official vehicle of Danapur DSP-2 Amarendra Kumar Jha. Fortunately, the senior police officer narrowly escaped unharmed. The truck driver allegedly targeted the DSP’s vehicle deliberately, causing significant damage.
The truck had previously been involved in a fatal accident where it hit a motorcyclist on the Bihta railway overbridge before colliding with the DSP’s vehicle. Following the collision, law enforcement teams from various stations swiftly responded, secured the area, and apprehended the truck driver. The impact was so intense that the DSP’s vehicle remained wedged between the flyover railing and the truck for nearly three hours.
Local residents, witnessing the chaos, raised concerns about the unrestricted movement of sand-laden trucks in areas designated as no-entry zones for heavy vehicles. Allegations surfaced linking the incident to illegal sand mining and extortion, with claims of a substantial racket worth Rs 10 lakh. The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the unauthorized entry of heavy vehicles, illegal sand transportation, and the circumstances surrounding the motorcyclist’s tragic demise.
Hundreds of onlookers gathered at the scene, expressing outrage and demanding accountability. The situation led to a prolonged traffic jam and road closure, with a crane eventually being used to clear the trapped vehicle. Amidst the chaos, the police assured that traffic had returned to normalcy and the reckless driver had been taken into custody. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
