Music composer and lyricist Anand Raj Anand disclosed that Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt had a significant impact on the music of the iconic film ‘Kaante’, which initially had no songs. During an episode of ‘Indian Idol’, Anand Raj Anand, who composed, wrote, and sang the film’s title track, shared insights into the creation of the memorable soundtrack.
Anand Raj Anand reminisced about the unique storyline of ‘Kaante’, featuring heroes over 45 years old and no female lead, which posed challenges for incorporating songs. He suggested organizing a Sufi music gathering for Sanjay Dutt, who appreciated the genre, leading to the inclusion of songs like ‘Rama Re’ in the film.
The composer revealed that while director Sanjay Gupta was hesitant about the songs fitting into the movie, Sanjay Dutt insisted on their inclusion, stating they were impressive. This led to the decision to create a signature theme song for the film, akin to iconic themes from movies like James Bond and Mission: Impossible.
Anand Raj Anand detailed the process of crafting the film’s title track, inspired by a scene of characters planning a robbery in a cave. Starting with a single line provided by the director, he took a week to complete the song, marking the beginning of the renowned ‘Kaante’ title track.
