Fourth seed Sanya Vats, the only Indian in the semifinals of the HCL Squash PSA Challenger Tour-Chennai, was defeated by top seed Rouqaia Othman at the Indian Squash Academy in Chennai. Othman claimed victory with scores of 11-4, 11-2, 11-5. Sanya Vats had advanced to the semifinals after beating Unnati Tripathi in the women’s quarterfinals.
Second seed Indian Suraj Chand staged a comeback to defeat Kuwait’s Ammar Altamimi in the men’s pre-quarterfinals at the Indian Squash Academy. However, Chand was unable to progress further in the tournament. Other Indian players who made it to the quarterfinals include Om Semwal, Rathika Seelan, Unnati Tripathi, and Pooja Arthi Raghu.
In a separate event, Tanvi Khanna of India turned the tables against Egypt’s Farida Walid in the women’s final of the HCL-SRFI PSA Challenger Tournament in Mumbai. Khanna secured a remarkable victory with a score of 8-11, 2-11, 12-10, 11-9, 11-7, avenging her previous loss to Walid earlier in the year. The men’s title was clinched by M. Syafiq Kamal, who defeated Yassin Shohdy from Egypt.
