A tragic incident occurred in Dumaria village, Gopalganj district, when an out-of-control school bus crashed into a roadside hut, resulting in the deaths of two young children. The victims, identified as four-year-old Arish and two-and-a-half-year-old Imtiaz, were cousins who were asleep inside the hut at the time of the accident.
Preliminary reports suggest that the bus, belonging to a private school in Jamunha, was parked near the driver’s residence in the Kateya police station area. The driver’s elder brother, Safaruddin, took the keys in the driver’s absence and attempted to move the bus, leading to the tragic collision with the hut.
A pregnant woman, Arish’s mother, who was also in the hut during the accident, sustained severe injuries and has been hospitalized for treatment. Authorities have detained the driver for further investigation into the incident to ascertain any negligence or liability.
Police have confirmed that all 20 schoolchildren who were on the bus at the time of the accident escaped unharmed. The community in Dumaria village is grieving the loss of the two children and demanding justice and compensation for the affected families.
