Several schoolchildren were injured when a school bus overturned into a roadside ditch in the Gangiri police station area on the Aligarh-Hathras border. The incident caused panic among the children and local residents, leading villagers to break the bus windows to rescue the trapped students.
Some children sustained minor injuries and were treated at a nearby medical center, while one seriously injured child was referred to a hospital in Aligarh. Police officials reported that the bus, carrying children to school, lost control, resulting in the accident. SP Rural Manish Kumar Mishra mentioned that around seven to eight children were injured, with one child requiring hospitalization in Aligarh due to facial injuries.
Authorities confirmed that the other injured children are now stable. An investigation has been initiated to examine the safety and condition of school vehicles in the region. This incident has reignited concerns regarding the safety standards of school transportation in Uttar Pradesh.
On a previous occasion, a tragic accident in Kasganj district claimed the life of a six-year-old girl, Ananya Kumari, who fell through a broken floor of a moving school bus and was crushed under its rear wheel. Ananya, a UKG student of Mount Dev International School in Aligarh, met with the accident while returning home from school near the Aligarh-Kasganj border. The bus driver stopped the vehicle only after being alerted by other students and passersby about the incident.
