Scotland’s wicketkeeper-batter Ailsa Lister received an official reprimand for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during their Women’s T20 World Cup match against the West Indies. Ailsa was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the Code by displaying misconduct after her dismissal in the 19th over of Scotland’s innings. This included throwing her bat and gloves, kicking a bin, and knocking it over near the dugout.
The sanction imposed on Ailsa Lister includes one demerit point added to her disciplinary record, as it marked her first offense within a 24‑month period. She admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by GS Lakshmi of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees, thus avoiding a formal hearing. The on‑field officials and umpires reported the matter, leading to the reprimand.
Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct carry penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a maximum of 50% of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points. Accumulating four or more demerit points within 24 months can result in suspension points, potentially leading to a ban from matches. In the match against the West Indies, Scotland narrowly lost by seven runs, falling short of the target of 154 runs.
Despite a spirited run-chase, Scotland was bowled out for 146 on the final ball of the match. Their next challenge will be against defending champions New Zealand at Bristol County Ground on Tuesday.
