Scott Parker has departed from his role as head coach of Burnley Football Club through mutual agreement, as confirmed by the Premier League team on Thursday. Mike Jackson, with the support of the current coaching staff, will serve as the interim manager for Burnley’s remaining four Premier League matches, commencing with a game against Leeds United on Friday. The decision for Parker to step down follows Burnley’s recent relegation from the Premier League, with plans already underway to appoint a new permanent head coach for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Parker’s exit from Burnley occurred eight days after the club’s relegation was finalized. In a statement, Burnley explained that discussions between Parker and the board led to a mutual understanding that his tenure at Turf Moor would come to an end. During his time at Turf Moor, Parker achieved significant success, notably guiding the team to a record-breaking season in 2024/25, securing promotion to the Premier League with an impressive 33-match unbeaten streak and 30 clean sheets.
Having taken over from Vincent Kompany before the 2024-25 season, Parker expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead Burnley. He reflected on the memorable moments during his tenure, particularly the promotion season, and conveyed appreciation to the club’s ownership, staff, players, and fans for their unwavering support. Parker, who had a notable playing career featuring stints at various Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham, emphasized that it was an honor to manage Burnley and wished the team and its supporters the best for the future.
