Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu announced plans to launch seaplane operations in Lakshadweep to boost regional air connectivity and expand aviation infrastructure. This initiative aims to improve accessibility in remote and challenging geographical areas by introducing helicopters, regional aircraft, and seaplanes alongside traditional aircraft services. Lakshadweep is set to be among the initial locations to introduce seaplane services, facilitating better connectivity to island territories.

International Financial Services Centres Authority Chairman K. Rajaraman highlighted the transformation of GIFT City into a global aviation finance hub, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. The aviation sector in GIFT City has witnessed substantial growth, with over 40 operational aircraft lessors and successful leasing transactions involving more than 200 aircraft and 84 engines. This progress signifies the increasing global recognition of India’s aviation financing ecosystem and the pivotal role of GIFT City in fostering investment and policy innovation in the industry.

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Civil Aviation Committee Chairman and Airbus India Managing Director, Jurgen Westermeier, emphasized the growing stature of India’s aviation financing ecosystem on the global stage. He noted that GIFT City is emerging as a significant center for investment and policy advancements in the aviation sector, reflecting the sector’s positive trajectory and potential for further development.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel underscored the state’s infrastructure development efforts, particularly in enhancing connectivity and financial systems at GIFT City, which are creating new avenues for aviation growth. By integrating international expertise with domestic policy support, India’s aviation sector is poised to achieve its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Initiatives such as seaplane operations and aviation financing reforms are instrumental in realizing this long-term aviation expansion strategy.
