Security forces in Manipur have detained five militants from banned groups, the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) and the Manipur Revolutionary Army (MRA), in separate operations in Churachandpur and Imphal East districts. The seized weapons include an AK-47 rifle, an INSAS rifle, a 9 mm pistol, ammunition, hand grenades, and a bulletproof vest. Additionally, mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and a two-wheeler were confiscated.
Manipur Police also captured a drug peddler named Tholung Koshel Lamkang with 189.05 kg of opium seeds and a car in Pallel Chandel Lamkhai. Investigations are ongoing in this case. Authorities are conducting intelligence-based operations to combat kidnapping, extortion, and other illegal activities in the state through search operations and area domination exercises.
To curb illegal activities, security forces have established 114 checkpoints across Manipur and are escorting vehicles, especially trucks carrying essential goods, along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway. Strict security measures are in place to ensure the safety of vehicle movements in sensitive areas. Manipur Police have cautioned the public against believing and sharing fake news on social media platforms, emphasizing the verification of information through the Central Control Room.
