Security arrangements are already in effect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Rome. The visit will involve official meetings with top state officials, and a specialized security setup has been put in place by the police, tailored to the specific characteristics of each location on the itinerary. PM Modi is set to land in Rome this evening, where he will be greeted by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani at Fiumicino Airport. Notably, security has been heightened at the airport in anticipation of his arrival.
PM Modi’s accommodation during his stay will be at the Anantara Hotel in Piazza della Repubblica, an area that will be closely monitored by law enforcement agencies. Additionally, intelligence operations are already underway, with efforts from the Italian Special Operations Unit and the Postal Police to intercept communications and prevent any potential security threats. The visit’s schedule includes a meeting with President Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale Palace and a summit with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at Villa Pamphili, a location under special surveillance.
Following these engagements, PM Modi and Prime Minister Meloni will participate in a working lunch with leaders from prominent Italian and Indian industrial sectors. Subsequently, PM Modi is expected to visit the Food and Agriculture Organization before concluding his trip to Italy. It is worth noting that PM Modi’s last visit to Italy was in June 2024 for the Group of Seven Summit. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the robust bilateral relations between India and Italy, emphasizing the implementation of the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029, aimed at enhancing cooperation across various domains such as trade, investment, defense, clean energy, innovation, and people-to-people ties.
