Allegations of caste-based favoritism have been raised against former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the allocation of funds for community centers. A seer criticized Siddaramaiah for allegedly benefiting his own caste, the Kuruba community, while claiming to support backward communities. The seer highlighted discrepancies in fund allocation, questioning the former CM’s commitment to social justice and equality.
Pranavananda Swamiji, the president of the Forum of Heads of the Most Backward Class Maths, expressed objection to the release of funds favoring organizations associated with the Kuruba community. He cited a Finance Department order releasing Rs 75 crore to 171 organizations, raising concerns over the disproportionate allocation of funds.
The seer challenged Siddaramaiah’s claims of advocating for equality and social justice, pointing out that a significant portion of the funds was directed towards Kuruba community organizations. He emphasized the need for fair distribution among all backward classes, not just a specific community, urging the government to support a broader spectrum of communities.
Questioning the fairness of fund distribution, the seer noted that a majority of the funds went to Kuruba community-linked organizations, while other communities received comparatively lesser support. He also questioned the allocation of grants to specific regions and institutions, raising concerns about potential biases in the fund allocation process.
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge responded to the allegations, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring justice for all communities. Kharge reassured that any imbalances in fund distribution would be rectified, underscoring the government’s responsibility to uphold fairness and address disparities in resource allocation.
