Senior BJP leader R. Ashoka criticized Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, accusing the Congress government of failing to provide stable governance and delaying Cabinet expansion due to internal power struggles. The government, led by Shivakumar with 13 ministers, has 20 Cabinet berths yet to be filled.
Political circles suggest that the delay in Cabinet expansion is due to differences within the ruling party. Apart from assigned portfolios, all other departments are managed by the Chief Minister. Ashoka mocked Shivakumar, calling him an “Educationalist by Choice” and alleging expertise in political horse-trading.
Ashoka raised concerns about the condition of government schools in Karnataka, stating that over 16,800 classrooms in 46,174 schools await repairs. He highlighted that nearly 40% of school classrooms are in poor condition, affecting regions like Kalyana Karnataka, Kittur Karnataka, Malnad, Old Mysuru, and Bengaluru.
The BJP leader criticized the government for the absence of key portfolio ministers, including Agriculture, School Education, and Higher Education for a month, leading to administrative challenges. Ashoka accused the Congress government of prioritizing power-sharing over education, farmers’ welfare, and public grievances.
