During the ongoing Maharashtra local polls, a senior citizen, who has lived in the area for over 60 years, voiced his frustration over the voting process directly to actress-politician Hema Malini. The elderly citizen expressed his dismay to Hema Malini, highlighting chaos and delays in the voting process. Hema Malini later urged Mumbai residents to participate in the local body polls for a better quality of life in the city.
Polling for the 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra began at 7.30 a.m. and will continue until 5.30 p.m. The elections cover 2,801 seats after 68 candidates were elected unopposed, with a total of 3.48 crore voters deciding the fate of 15,931 candidates. The counting of votes is scheduled for January 16.
Arrangements have been made at 39,147 polling stations across Maharashtra, with Mumbai alone having 10,111 polling stations. The elections are being held in various municipal corporations, including major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Thane.
