Senior Congress leader T.S. Singh Deo criticized Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha and six other MPs for switching from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), labeling it as political opportunism and a decline in political ethics. Singh Deo expressed disappointment at the diminishing political values in the country, emphasizing the focus on power retention and personal gains rather than principles.
Singh Deo highlighted the shift in stance by the MPs, who previously criticized the BJP but now justify their move by citing deviations in AAP’s principles. He lamented the deteriorating political landscape and emphasized the need for upholding integrity over mere political expediency.
Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput also weighed in, noting the perceived similarities between AAP and BJP as offshoots of the RSS. Rajput criticized the ease with which individuals switch sides, alleging that such maneuvers are aimed at securing favorable outcomes rather than upholding ideological consistency.
Raghav Chadha, along with the rebel MPs, formally announced their transition to the BJP by submitting documents to the Rajya Sabha Chairman. This move effectively splits the AAP’s Rajya Sabha legislature party, with the seven MPs aligning themselves with the ruling party. The shift is expected to significantly reduce AAP’s representation in the Rajya Sabha.
