Shapath Bharadwaj showcased strong performance in the men’s trap event at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He scored a total of 71 hits out of 75, including two perfect series. However, a slight drop in the third series affected his standing.
Manisha Keer emerged as the top Indian woman on Day 1 with a score of 69. In the same event, Vivaan Kapoor and Ahvar Rizvi also displayed competitive shooting, with Kapoor hitting a perfect 25 in the second series.
Udaivir Singh Jaijee and Ali Aman Elahi participated in the event for ranking points, achieving scores of 71 and 66, respectively. In the women’s competition, Neeru Dhanda and Pragati Dubey also put up commendable performances, finishing the day with scores of 68 and 65, respectively.
The finals for both men’s and women’s events, along with the remaining 50 targets, are scheduled for Saturday. Meanwhile, Indian skeet shooters faced tough competition in the same tournament, with Olympians Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Raiza Dhillon leading the Indian contingent.
Mairaj Ahmad Khan climbed to the 18th position after a strong performance in the qualification stage, scoring a total of 119. Bhavtegh Singh Gill closely followed with the same score, securing the 19th spot. Anantjeet Singh Naruka concluded his first World Cup of the season in 38th place with a score of 117.
