The Meteorological Centre in Bhopal observed varied weather conditions in Madhya Pradesh, with thunderstorms and rainfall reported in Gwalior, Chambal, and Jabalpur divisions. However, most regions experienced dry weather over the past 24 hours. The weather office predicts moderate thunderstorms with lightning and wind speeds up to 60 kmph in certain areas on Thursday evening.
Light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected in Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Pench, Seoni, Gwalior, Shivpuri, and Guna districts. Maximum temperatures remained below normal, with Gwalior and Rewa districts recording departures of up to 5.8 degrees Celsius below average. Minimum temperatures also dropped, with Bhopal recording temperatures 5.3 degrees below normal.
Narsinghpur recorded the highest maximum temperature at 42.2 degrees Celsius, while Amarkantak had the lowest minimum temperature at 16.1 degrees Celsius. Rainfall was recorded in Gohad, Balaghat, and Waraseoni, with gusty winds reaching 67 kmph at Gwalior Airport. The India Meteorological Department issued alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in 11 districts, including Gwalior, Morena, and Rewa.
Residents are advised to stay cautious as the state braces for a mix of thunderstorms and increasing heat. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise significantly in various districts, with a rapid temperature increase forecasted for several regions. Meteorologists warn of intensifying heat from May 9 onwards, with a fresh weather system expected to become active from May 10.
