He highlighted how individuals in Bollywood often mispronounce common words, expressing disappointment with the current state of the industry. Suman, known for launching the Shekhar Suman Film Academy, emphasized the importance of language proficiency, citing legends like Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan as examples of linguistic excellence.
He underscored the significance of speech in acting, noting a disconnect in today’s actors who struggle with pronunciation. Suman expressed a desire to introduce a comprehensive course addressing these issues at his institution. Additionally, he criticized the prevalent practice of using English instead of Hindi at award ceremonies within the Hindi film industry.
Suman stressed the collective responsibility to rectify this linguistic trend promptly. He also lamented the use of Roman script over Devanagari in Hindi film scripts, advocating for a return to the traditional script for better cultural representation.
