The Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) criticized the BJP and Shiv Sena leadership in Maharashtra for not condemning the statements of Annamalai and Kripashankar Singh, which were deemed as insulting to Maharashtra’s honor. The party expressed concern over what it sees as a lack of support for the state’s dignity.
In a scathing editorial in the party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena accused the Fadnavis-Shinde regime of tarnishing Maharashtra’s pride. The editorial pointed fingers at Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, alleging that they have surrendered to the BJP central leadership.
The editorial further criticized the Fadnavis-Shinde duo for neglecting Marathi language, culture, and pride, and allowing insults to the state to go unchallenged. It raised concerns about the erosion of Marathi identity under the current administration, calling the government’s silence a betrayal of Maharashtra’s heritage.
The Shiv Sena editorial accused the Mahayuti alliance leadership of prioritizing political alliances over safeguarding Marathi culture and language. It also highlighted alleged attempts by the BJP to create discord between the Tamil community and the Shiv Sena for political motives, contrasting this with the historical support of Tamil Nadu leadership for regional identities.
Targeting Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, the editorial criticized the leadership for not standing up against individuals like Annamalai, accusing them of abandoning their Marathi identity for political expediency. It questioned the commitment of these leaders to the legacy of Balasaheb Thackeray, suggesting that they have failed to uphold Maharashtra’s honor.
